Use Our Services :: Consultations

Our consultants have years of experience supporting 1000s of instructors of every discipline from across campus.  Drawing upon current teaching and technology research, insights gleaned from peer institutions, and hands-on collaboration with instructors, CITES EdTech consultants can quickly assess your teaching and learning goals and suggest proven strategies and practices to facilitate and enhance how you employ technology in your teaching. Our consultants can offer initial advice, or referrals to campus experts, on any technology topic. In particular, we provide extended consulting with a wide range of teaching and technology topics:

  • How to take greater advantage of Illinois Compass
  • How online videos might better engage your students
  • How to find the best pedagogic and technology assistance and resources on campus
  • How new web 2.0 technologies such as blogs, wikis, podcasting, and clickers can improve student collaboration.

Our consulting support ranges from a quick phone or email response, to an office visit, to an extended partnership as you pilot new strategies with your students. Since we learn as much from campus instructors as they learn from us when we consult, we make every effort to be helpful, collegial, and dynamic partners.

Assessment & Evaluation

CITES consultants will meet with any instructor who wishes to evaluate the effectiveness of their technology use for teaching and learning.

We will work with instructors to identify what types of student outcomes they wish to assess, methods for tracking student behavior, the efficacy of a technology to meet an educational need, and other methods for assessing the impact of technology use in the classroom.

When necessary we will also help instructors locate campus resources, such as those in the Center for Teaching Excellence, for specialized or extensive course and curriculum evaluations.
