Annual NetID Password Expiration
This page describes how NetID passwords expire and where to go to reset them.
For security purposes, CITES requires you to change your NetID password at least once a year.
After a year, your NetID password will expire. A few weeks before your password expiration date, you will be notified by email; you will also begin to see warning messages on web pages where you are required to use your NetID password.
You can change your NetID password with the CITES Password Manager.
If you allow your NetID password to expire, you will not be able to access any of the services that require your NetID and NetID password. [For a list of these services, look on the Your Network ID (NetID) page.]
Changing an expired NetID password
If you have allowed your NetID password to expire, you can reset it in four ways:
- Online: If you have set up your security questions, you can use them to reset your NetID password with the CITES Password Manager.
- In person: Bring a photo ID to the CITES Help Desk.
- By fax: Print the Password Change Form and follow the instructions on the form.
- Within your department: If your department or unit has a password registrar (that is, someone authorized to set or reset passwords), you may contact that person for assistance.
