Two-Way Radio Service

This page contains information about two-way radios.

CITES manages one general two-way radio frequency on campus known as the "campus channel." The Two-Way Radio Service is a portable but nonprivate communication service that allows only one communication at a time. As the channel is shared among several campus units, other users can monitor the channel.

The system has a range that includes the campus and a limited perimeter around Champaign-Urbana.

The cost of the service is $2.00 per month per radio. The cost of individual radios varies depending on the type and features, normally between $600 and $1,000 per radio.
